"Making Mighty Men for God"

                                                                         OUR PURPOSE

HEAR THE CALL Psalm 12:1
“Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.”

ANSWER THE WORD Psalm 95:6
“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

SEE OUR VISION

The ministry of David’s Mighty Men has been established by God to minister to the needs of men
and to make mighty men for God. First: we do this as a ministry for God.
Second: we develop men to have a heart and a passion for God. (Matt. 28:19-20)

JOIN OUR MISSION

David’s Mighty Men has been called to lift up, build up, and commission the men of the church.
David’s Mighty Men has been called to teach men to study the Word of God, to grow in their relationship with Christ, and to serve their church and   community.
David’s Mighty Men has been called to encourage, empower and enlist the men of the church into the ministry of the Gospel of Christ. (2Tim. 2:1-2)

KNOW OUR REASON

David’s Mighty Men has been called into this work of the ministry, towards men, because the torch has now been passed to us. (2Cor. 5:18-19)
OUR HISTORY

What follows is a brief description of the beginning of David’s Mighty Men and how it all got started.

I was praising and worshiping one day in church after having been walking with the Lord again for only a few short months, some eight or nine months at that time. I had re-dedicated my life back to following Jesus again in January of 2000, after having been away from Him for many, many years. And I heard God speaking to me. Yes, God still actually speaks to His people we are His children you know. And it was coming up in my spirit, sounds all religious but I don’t know how else to put that, this over whelming sensation that God wanted me to do something, and this is what I kept hearing, “We are going to make mighty men for God” and I started wanting to make mighty men for God. That He wanted me to open my home and start a Bible study for men.

I was weeping, crying in an uncontrollable manner actually, that can actually happen sometimes when God, the Creator of all things, you know heaven and earth, speaks to us, His creation, I was emotional, I was overcome and I was physically shaky and God was calling me to do something a little different. So, I went to one of the pastors of my church pulled him out of the Sunday service we were in the middle of and told him that God was telling me, to open my home and start a Bible study for men and I kept telling him I just wanted to “make mighty men for God.” By the way, that’s where our motto “Making Mighty Men for God” came from.

Well after the pastor and I talked for a little bit, about what I thought the Lord was saying to me, he said okay and advised me that there were numerous studies for men’s ministries available and they could be very helpful to me. But I told him that I thought God wanted me to write my own Bible study. Well, he looked at me, kind of in-question, (actually like I was crazy) but he said okay, and to make sure and show him what I was writing. I said I would and over the next three months I did and he okay’ed it. And that’s where it started.

I spent the next October thru December reading through the Psalms and writing the first David’s Mighty Men Bible Study “The Metal of a Man”. During those times while I was reading through the Psalms God gave me the Daily Devotional reading of “Who Is The Great I Am” and “What Does God Do”. Later came “I Am Who I Am” and the “Daily Affirmation” came from a different Bible study I had already gone through earlier that year.

So, I started handing out flyers telling men when the Bible study was going to start and what it was going to be about and in January of 2001, 19 men showed up on a Monday night, to my one bedroom apartment that had seating squeezed together for 12 or maybe 13. And so, some men were able to sit and they did and some men stood for two solid hours while we had that first meeting. We praised and worshiped and sang and talked and introduced ourselves and I spoke a little about what the Bible study was going to be covering for the next 13 weeks and then ended the meeting in prayer. Men were praying for each other in groups of 4 or 5 or 6 together and then about an hour later they all finally left. And then next week, they all came back plus two more. And they kept coming back, week after week after week even if they had to stand and look around a corner from out of the kitchen area or out of the bathroom or out of the bedroom door. I told you my apartment was small, I didn’t realize how small until I tried to fit 20+ grown men into it, but the men didn’t seem to mind, because they came and they stayed. And I believe because God was doing something different. God was making mighty men for Himself.

And that’s where we started and we grew, we got larger, and we moved to a bigger place, one of the other men let us use his house, praise God, room to sit and more men came and more men kept coming and then they had to start standing again and we kept growing.

And over what seemed a very quick period of time that following next year 2002 where we moved the meetings into a room at the church building and we continued to grow and we out-grew that room and the next room larger and the next room larger, I told you God was doing something different, by this time, over the next two years from 2002 to the beginning of 2004, we were probably bringing in some 80+ men weekly. We did several different Bible studies and DMM I thru DMM V were written those first 3 years. And other men became leaders and started writing their own Bible studies and we took up 3 or more rooms at the church which included the big children’s sanctuary.

Each room was holding its own men’s Bible study, but we always started off together in the one big room praising and worshiping and coming before our God and committing our lives and the lives of our families to Him. And that’s when the church leaders, the head pastors began to take notice and they asked to step in and take over and they wanted to begin their own men’s ministry and I knew God had moved on their hearts also.

And out of that beginning 19 men on a Monday night in a little small apartment in Austin Texas where the manager of the apartments asked me to have the guys park their cars on the street, so as not to over fill the park-lot David’s Mighty Men was sprung forward. And the story continues still, with more men and more meetings and more changed lives. Even until today. Amen.
“Hear the Call”

Before I wrote my first bible study I had asked God why am I doing this? Why have you called me into Men's Ministry? What was the reason? What was the need for getting men together, getting them to read the Word of God, and getting them to talk about their lives? I believe this verse was His answer. While I was reading through the book of Psalm I stopped on Psalm 12:1: "Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men."; and it struck me that godly men were lacking in the body of Christ.

Every man needs to hear the call on His life. God has a plan and a purpose for our lives. God saw our life before the beginning of time. It is our responsibility to answer to God’s call in and on our lives. Jesus said: ‘to them with ears let them hear’. He told us not to be like the man that looks in the mirror and then turns a way and forgets what he looks like. Don't be a man that hears from God and sits and does nothing. God has a great plan for your life. Learn to seek after God so that the plan for your life will be revealed to you.

The purpose of hearing the call is to wake men up, to get the sleeping giant off the sofa, and into the Word. To get him out of the garage where he works on fixing the trouble with engines and into the ministry where he can learn to help put back together broken lives. Instead of building another shelf for his tools, he will begin to build bridges between God and man so that other men can be shown the way and they can begin to hear the call. To Hear the Call To take him off his fishing-boat and put him into a place where he will learn to fish for men's souls. God never meant for our lives to be a vacation but a journey and a race with a far greater prize than some fish stuck on a wall.

The men of the church have been given a huge responsibility to not only hear from God for themselves but for their families and for the church, which is the body of Christ. We need to open our ears to hear God's voice to understand His Word and learn to put that Word into action, for His greater glory, for the local church and for our families and for our community. We need to learn to hear what God is doing in the nations and around this globe we call earth.

Men I call upon you to awaken you to “Hear the Call” and know that He is calling you for His Greater Glory. Amen

“Answer the Word”

When men “Hear the Call” and then “Answer the Word”, they begin to take responsibility for their part in the relationship between God and man. And that relationship begins with us bowing down to God. Psalm 95:6 which was the next verse that the Lord gave to me to help show me what men needed to do next. “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” God told me that when men bow down, He will raise them us. When men bow, God moves.

Our Lord is worthy of our worship, our Lord expects us to worship Him and to bow down to Him. He expects us to turn our lives over to Him. And David’s Mighty Men teaches men to do just that. God has called us to bow down and worship Him. Amen.

Too many men are afraid of turning their lives over to anyone other than themselves. And this is not God’s plan. God’s plan is for Him to run our lives not us. When we bow down, we are turning our lives over to God. We are giving Him the rightful place in our lives. We are literally saying God you are in charge of my life not me. We are putting Him in charge. We are laying down our life and picking up His. We are putting Him and His plan for our life first not ours. This is “Answering the Word”.

God gave me a word for the men of the church and this is what He said: “If they will kneel before Him then He will lift them up. If they will exalt Him then He will exalt them. He just wants to heal you. He just wants to heal your hurts and your pains to give you something good, to touch you. Too make you His. If you are a man and you want to come forward and kneel God wants to do something wonderful in your life.” So what are you waiting for?

God has something for you. God has a plan and a purpose for your life that you cannot even imagine. He does not want to hurt you. He is not standing there with a big stick, ready to clomp you, every time you make a mistake. He is there to lift you up and heal you and help you and remind you that you are still His. When you bow down to Him, He will lift you up. Amen.

By “Answering the Call” we are putting God first. And that is what God wants. Amen. God said to me: “Show them God’s love and they will bow down before Me.” So this is our purpose to show men that God loves them. That He cares about them and has their best interest at heart. We show men who God is and what God does and who we are now because of Him. This is the purpose of David’s Mighty Men: To make Mighty Men who are for God. We want to show men that God is worthy of their love and their obedience, and their trust and that bowing down before Him makes all the difference in this world. When we bow God raises us up. That is why we are developing men to have a heart and a passion for God. Amen.

“OUR PURPOSE”

HEAR THE CALL: Psalm 12:1
“Help Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.”

There is a call from God to His people, to men in particular. For too long, men have given up their spiritual leadership roles, in the family, in the church and in the community. And God is calling men back. God is calling men to come back to Him. God is calling men back to the role of leadership by exampling Him.

ANSWER THE WORD: Psalm 95:6
“Come, Let us bow down in Worship; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

God is calling men to lay down their way of handling life’s situations. God is calling men to put down their lives and take us His life. God is calling men to stop worshiping their way and begin again to Worship Him, His way. When men begin to hear the call and answer the word and bow down to God, then He will raise them us. When men are willing to bow God is willing to move. Amen.

Learn To Take The Stand

Habakkuk 2:1
I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.

2 Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Jeremiah 17:8
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit

All men must learn to take their stand. You must each learn to stand up for the Lord, for your Lord, for your Savior, for your God. We must stand because times are evil. The way of the Lord has been perverted by many in the church and of course outside of the church in the world. We must come to place where we each ask the Lord to take first place in our lives. Then we must make Him first.

These are the verses you will find on the back of each Booklet, each Bible Study, each set of Sermon Notes. We must learn to live by these Scriptures. I believe they hold a basis for our beliefs and for our lives. We must each look at our lives and see: where in my life can these Verses, these Holy Words from the Holy Bible be established in my life, then make it so.

We must learn to stand before the Lord and ask Him to judge us, to see into my life and make whatever corrections are needed. We must once again as Mighty Men of God be willing to stand for the Word of God and stand for the Lord. When others see us, they must be able to say: "There goes a Mighty Man for God, there goes a man who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, who brings glory and honor to Jesus." Each of us must learn to take His stand!

It starts here and it starts today. Are you willing to take your stand today?

Sincerely,

Charles Lee Moore

"Developing   Men   To   Have   a   Heart   and   a   Passion   for   God"
THE GOSPEL MESSAGE
God’s Heart is to:

Release those that are being held captive

To bring His light into your dark place

To find those that are lost

To help the helpless

To bring the saving grace of Jesus Christ

To all that will hear and obey

Isaiah 61:1-3

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Let this reading be a helpful reminder to you of

“The Gospel Truth”
Forward

 1 John 1:1-10
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

1 John 2:1-6
1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

The Simple Gospel

Luke 24:46-47 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem."

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Acts 2:22-24
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

ONE DAY DOES COME

Hebrews 9:27
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

2 Corinthians 5:10
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Romans 3:9-18
9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. 10 As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one;11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” 13 “ Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “ The poison of asps is under their lips”;14 “ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”15 “ Their feet are swift to shed blood;16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;17 And the way of peace they have not known.”18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Romans 3:23
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

John 3:18
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

BUT WHAT IS GOD’S HEART

1 Timothy 2:3-4
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

John 6:40
40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

John 5:24
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My {Jesus} word and believes in Him {God} who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

John 5:21
21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.

John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

THE GOOD NEWS

2 Corinthians 6:2
2 For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Romans 5:6-8
6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:15-17
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him {Jesus} might be saved.

Hebrews 9:28
28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Acts 2:21
21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.’

JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY

John 17:3
3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

1 Timothy 1:15
15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

John 6:35
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

John 6:44

John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

1 Timothy 2:5-6
5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,

Hebrews 9:15
15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 12:24
24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Hebrews 13:8
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Acts 4:12
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

WHAT YOU MUST DO

Romans 10:9-13
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him {Jesus} will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Mark 1:15
15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in The Gospel.”

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 3:19
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

THE RECONCILIATION

2 Corinthians 5:18
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

2 Corinthians 5:19
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For He {God} made Him {Jesus} who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Romans 5:10
10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Romans 5:11
11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

THESE ARE GOD’S PROMISES TO YOU

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he {us} is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Romans 5:1
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 8:1
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 14:1-3
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me {Jesus}. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

2 Corinthians 5:5
5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

THIS IS NOW YOUR NEXT STEP

Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

REMEMBER

This is the simple message of the Gospel

1 Corinthians 15:3-4….that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, [4]and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, {Amen}

The message is simple and true. Man sinned but God made a way. And that way was
-Jesus Christ-
-Crucified On The Cross-

For those of you with ears, my hope is that you hear and that you respond. God is waiting for you.

By no other name can man be saved except
Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Acts 4:12

In His Name and for His Greater Glory,
Amen.

My Story

When I was a very young boy about six to seven years of age I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I was sitting on the top of my bunk bed and I felt like I heard God call me. I can’t tell you what it sounded like I just knew inside of me that God was calling me. So, I got down off my bunk bed went into the kitchen where my mother was washing the dishes, I jumped up on the kitchen counter top and sat there and told my momma that I think God wants me to walk down the aisle.

You see, I was brought up in a small Baptist church in San Antonio, Texas, Stonewall Baptist Church. And when I was growing up in church, when you wanted to get saved, you walked down front, you walked down the aisle during the altar call and you gave your life to Jesus. You did this in public and with all eyes watching.

I had heard the Gospel story my whole young life: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried in the grave and rose again on the third day. And now, God was calling me.

So I told my mom this, what I thought God was wanting me to do, walk down the aisle and give my life to Jesus. Well, my parents told the preacher and then on Sunday morning, when the altar call was given and while everyone was singing “Just As I Am” just as I was, a small boy with tears in his eyes, who really didn’t know what he was doing but knew in his heart that this was what he was supposed to do, got up out of the pew and walked down front, all by myself, with all eyes watching, and the preacher met me there and sat me down and asked me some questions, that I can’t even remember now, and asked me if I believed and I said yes and I accepted Jesus as my Lord and personal Savior and I got saved.

Now from that day to this day is an even longer story but I have always known,  on that day in San Antonio, Texas at Stonewall Baptist Church I gave my life to Jesus because He called me and I heard Him and I answered Him and I got saved. And that’s what happened to me. Amen.

The Continuation:

From a small boy to a teenager I did the best I could at following Jesus, went to church some, read my bible some and tried to live as best as I could. But then high school hit and I got involved in drugs, smoking, drinking and walked away from God, Now I could always tell that God was there in the background and sometimes right in the forefront, because no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get away from the truth the fact that Jesus Christ had saved me as a small boy and that I was living wrong - to put it lightly-. There were times I would repent from my sins, my wrong doings and come back to church for a while, but never lasting, always walking away, always turning my back on Jesus, knowing  I was making the wrong decisions but doing them anyway. A couple of decades past, I even had a year or so in prison, where I gave my life back to Jesus and upon getting out got right back into my old sin filled life. At times it would be very hard to stay in sin and to commit sin, knowing that Jesus was the way to live my life. You should try being the only one in a group of people doing drugs, getting high and hear yourself say, "well yes but Jesus is the only way to eternal everlasting life", you lose friends real quick and then even your drugging buddies don't want to invite you over, cause you bum-out their high too. Such was my life on again off again with Jesus. Mostly off.

But then, in October of 1999 at a Halloween party I met a certain women -not my wife to be- and we spent the night together. Well she was a church goer, so of course I went with her, duh. And after two months of going back to church regularly with her a moment came.

In January of 2000 I was in prayer during the prayer time at church and I had a vision, I was a heavy cigarette smoker and had even sworn that I would never give them up- I saw my cigarettes become little snakes wiggling around, then they came together and became one big snake and that one big snake became a monstrous head a grotesque looking monster face that I would say was the devil. And I heard the Lord say: "As long as you keep smoking those cigarettes you can't get any closer to me than you are right now." And it felt like the Lord left me, I got scared and I got up and headed down to the front of the church for prayer, I was going to give up my cigarettes. About halfway there I head the Lord say again: "I don't just want your cigarettes Charles I want your life back." So I gave Him my life back.

Now the next day as I was sitting in my recliner read the back end of Hebrews smoking a cigarette - yea that didn't last long did it- I was reading where it says: chapter 10 verse 26 'for if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.' And I felt like I had slapped Jesus in the face, once again.

I said to the Lord: "I can't keep living this way on again off again -following Jesus then running away- You have to make me like Peter and Paul. All the way on for Jesus or not at all." I had always known the truth - even when I was getting high, always knew Jesus was the only way, the only real truth in life and I couldn't keep going back and forth again. I make the joke that the Lord said back 'Okay Charles I will and I would say no wait a minute and He says no I got you this time.' But that is what really happened.

I made the decision to follow Jesus then and there, no turning back no half way compromises, the Bible - all of it was true and was to be lived out as truth, living like Peter and Paul did on fire for Jesus, telling people about Jesus, His life His death His resurrection. Never turning back again. And that's what happened.

I continued going to church, even small groups and Sunday School classes, Men's breakfasts, Wednesday nights, started ushering on Sundays and Wednesday nights, Then around late Sept early Oct of that same year the Lord said to open up your apartment for a men's bible study we are going to make might men for God.  I did and that is where David's Mighty Men started. Can't say I haven’t sinned since that day in January 2000, but I can say I haven’t walked away, and I never will.

Marriage, Downtown Austin homeless outreaches, Friday night interventions of drug deals, New York City street ministry mission trips, Alaska mission trips, India mission trips, David's Mighty Men, The  2 Year Curriculum, stage 4 cancer, 2 babies in the womb gone home, 16 years and counting , well here I am still telling you my story.

Oh one more little tale: in April of 2000 I was telling my story of the cigarette conversion, you might want to call it, at a small group and was reminded of a moment in time some 15 plus years before then. "I was walking down a sidewalk smoking a joint looking up into the heavens and asking God, when was I gonna get mine, when was I gonna get my burning bush, my experience that changes people lives like so many you hear of, like so many you read about in the Bible". And at that moment while I was giving my testimony recalling that moment in time the Lord said "I did Charles, your vision of the cigarettes and the recliner moment that's your burning bush, that’s what you tell people happened, never forget it. I answered your prayer from 15 years ago on that day at that time. Never forget it." And I never have.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

GOD
God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. He knows everything that has happened and is happening and will happen in the future and God is in control of everything. Nothing or no one is out of God’s reach.
Genesis 1:1-25; Revelations 22:13

JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
Matthew 3:17 & 17:5; John 1:1-4,14; 14:1-3; Colossians 1:15-18; Revelation 22:13

THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is equal to the Father and Son. The Holy Spirit is present in this world to make mankind aware of our need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit also lives in every Believer in Jesus from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit provides the Believer with power and different gifts for the Body of Christ, the understanding of spiritual truth, understanding the Bible, and guidance in doing the will Jesus. As believers and followers of Jesus Christ we seek to Live under the direction and Live by the power of the Holy Spirit daily.
Genesis 1:1; John 14:16-18 & 25-26; 15:26; 16:13-15; Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13; Titus 3:4-7

MANKIND
Man and Woman are all made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. We are at the top of God’s creation. Every man, woman and child is marred by a condition of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This sin condition separates us from God. And all have sinned
Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23

ETERNITY (Heaven)
All of us, mankind, is created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or we will exist eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Eternity is a place of everlasting unity with God and everlasting life with God in His presence and in His Kingdom, Heaven.
Luke 23:43; Revelation 20:1-22:17

SALVATION
Salvation is a gift from God to mankind. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works, or being good enough. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ, His death on the cross for our sins, His burial in the grave and His resurrection from the dead on the third day, as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty, eternal death and separation from God. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith. Just as Jesus said: if you believe in Me you have Eternal Life.
John 3:14-18; Romans 5:6-11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Ephesians 2:1-10

THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s written word to all mankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance and instruction of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the supreme source of truth for believers and followers of Jesus. Because the Bible is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
Matthew 4:1-11 “it is written”; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; Revelations 1:1-3 & 22:18-19

MISSION TRIP 2016 - INDIA

The Lord has presented me with an exciting opportunity to impact the lives of others in a different country with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By deepening my faith in Him through this year's mission trip I will continue to fulfill God's ordained call on my life. My participation in this mission trip will not only help me trust God more for His provision and power, but it also adds to my conviction and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ, God's beloved Son, that I am lead by Him for His Greater Glory and for the continual preaching of the Gospel by which all men must be saved. But I can only take advantage of this special opportunity with your help.

I need friends like you to partner with me in praying for my mission trip, but I also need your support financially in order to participate. I am trusting the Lord to provide partners that will help make my trip possible. Please consider being one of those partners and giving through the options listed below.(2)

I have heard the call on my life “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel…” Mark 16:15 And “…woe is me if I do not preach the Gospel”. 1 Cor. 9:16 So I am answering that call, and I am going. The cost of this trip is approx. $3200.00 and I am in need of your support. Would you please considering joining with me in your financial giving for this missionary trip?

I will be going from village to village and house to house. I will have a translator with me as well as a local church worker who will follow up with discipleship training after we have fulfilled our mission trip whereby we are asking the Lord to bring to Himself 100's if not 1000's through the preaching of His Word, the hearing of His Gospel and the all encompassing and immeasurable power of His might, to grant eternal life by His grace alone to those that are dead in their sins. So in this age, with generations to follow, they may be one with us as we are one with Him and with His Son through His Holy Spirit bringing Jesus Christ praise, glory and honor now and throughout all eternity.

This is my 2nd trip to India and I am assured by His Holy Spirit through His eternal calling, that He has a special purpose for me to go, to invest my life through His Son Jesus Christ, our Savior, into the lives of those that live in the unreached areas of India and the world. In His Name and for His Greater Glory! Amen.
